1) Hedges and Bushes- Keep your hedges and bushes trimmed. The more shade you have, The more mosquitoes will be attracted to your yard.

 

 

 



2) Kiddie Pool- Empty out water from pools once or twice a week. If the pool is not in use for a long period of time, empty it. Standing water can become stagnant and product optimum mosquito breeding conditions.

 

 

 



3) Poolsides with Bushes- Surrounding Pool Be sure to skim the pool regularly because mosquitoes lay their eggs on water's surface. Keep bushes trimmed and try not have them giving off too much shade, as the shade combined with the humidity of the pool provides an ideal mosquito haven.

 

 

 



4) Tree- The more shade you have, the more mosquitoes will be attracted to your yard.

 

 

 




5) Sand Box and Childs Sand Pail & Shovel- Make sure sand box toys are not left for long periods of time with standing water in them. A sand pail filled with water is a potential breeding ground for mosquitoe's.

 

 

 



6) Lawn- Make sure you mow the lawn at least once a week during the spring and summer months. Mosquitoe's like to hide in tall grass.

 

 

 

 

 



7) Spray Doktor Doom Residual Insecticide Spray in all shaded areas.

 

 

 

 



8) Tire Swing- Mosquitoes can breed in as little as a spoonful of water! Prevent rainwater from gathering in your childrens tire swing by drilling holes in the bottom.

 

 

 




9) Litter- Pick up litter in your yard regularly. A mosquito can lay eggs virtually anywhere - including on discarded wrappers.

 

 

 



10) Sun- Try to have lots of sun exposure in your yard. Direct sunlight is too hot for mosquitoes to bear. The less shade in your yard, the better to minimize mosquito activity.

 

 

 




11) Bird Bath- Empty your birdbath at least once a week to avoid stagnant water - a mosquitoe's favorite breeding ground.

 

 

 

 




12) Rain- Be sure to empty out your rain barrel regularly. Standing water is ideal breeding conditions for mosquitoe's.

 

 

 

 



13) Trellis with Flowers/Vines Growing on it- Trellises will block the wind which is the mosquitoe's #1 enemy. Try not have too many objects in your yard that will block the breeze.

 

 




14) Food- Wasps and hornets are attracted to food. Try not to leave any food lying around

 

 

 

 



15) Garden with Ornimental Pond- If you have a pond, try to stock it with fish like Goldfish, which will eat the mosquito larve that float on top of the water.

 

 

 

 




16) House with Rain Gutters- Don't forget to clean out your rain gutters - debris can block water from flowing, creating a mosquito haven.

 

 

 



17) Barbecue- Try to shelter your barbecue during rainfall. If you don't use it very often, make sure there is no such standing water - a mosquitoe's favorite breeding ground.
